Home Depot (the $100 store)/Garage antics
Today was the day!  A full day in the garage with 98 degree heat in Portland!  Ashley and I were both at it early in the garage.  We tag teamed the assembly of the various sections of the garage door openers and were able to get them both ready for installation by mid morning.

Soon into the installation process, we ran into the first snag of the day.  The brackets for holding the safety sensor eyes across the garage door openings didn't fit the old style rails.  So we had to improvise, and I did some carpentry work to build out from the walls so we could mount the sensors.  Next we had problems with the installation into the walls...again I did some carpentry work and we got that one resolved.  The biggest challenge came when we reached the step of mounting the motors to the ceiling....without key brackets and bolts, nuts, and washers that weren't provided.  So off to Home Depot we went, a now well memorized trip for me in Beaverton.

Upon returning to the garage, in the heat of the afternoon, I got to install the brackets to the joists, then had to cut the remaining brackets to fit and hold the motors in place...a lot of fun with the hacksaw and ladder!  I only said a few choice words getting those motors mounted in that heat.  But they aren't coming down...even if Mt. Hood or St. Helens erupts and showers the house with lava flows!

At 9:00 pm we had enough.  Eric was working late so we all retreated to quiet time on computers and then to bed for a good night's sleep.
