A week has passed in Portland. Today was a rest day at the house. I spent a lot of time on the website adding captions to all of the photos in the batches. Learning to work with the website and having so much to do to get it up to date and better organized has been a blessing, keeping me busy and focused on the trail.
Nitro and Bono and Nightingale called....they have made it to Mammoth and are taking a rest day. From their account, the snow traversing continues and the section beyond VVR has lots of ups and downs. It was great hearing from them! Bono and Nightingale are getting off the trail, temporarily, to fly back to the East coast for a wedding. Nitro and Doodlebug are reuniting to continue hiking north together for a while.
Daily foot update: now the foot is beginning to peel off dead skin in earnest. The area on the ball of the foot had thick calloused skin, which I will lose. I'm sure everyone reading this would love to hear more details! So I'll spare you all.
I am missing the trail and getting restless. I haven't lost focus but waiting on my body to cooperate is taking all the patience I can muster. Tomorrow is another day!
