Birthdays, Elephants, and Batman
Happy birthday Ashley!  Eric built into his ridiculously busy schedule a morning off to spend with his beautiful bride celebrating her birthday.  I got to go along too and enjoyed getting spoiled as well.

Mid morning we hopped in the car (OK, I hobbled, no hopping yet) and drove to downtown Portland to Elephant's deli.  This place has amazing soups, salads, prepared dinners, sandwiches, and much much more.  Eric loaded up on tasty morsels and then we drove up to Portland's famous Rose Garden for a mid-day picnic amongst the rose bushes.  There were a few other folks enjoying the nice day, which was still cloudy but had occasional breaks when the sun broke through and it actually got hot.

Then we came back to the house and Eric went to work.  I had to nap a little after enjoying peaceful chowing down time at the garden.

When Eric returned from work in the late afternoon, we drove off again, this time to Pizza Schmizza for a couple slices of Thai pizza.  Then the three of us went to see Batman Begins, our second movie of the week.  What an enjoyable movie!  This is in my opinion the best of the Batman movies to make it to the big screen.  After the movie we returned to the house and I went to bed.

The foot has not yet shown any signs of closing up where the incision was made.  It is beginning to itch, a good sign, but it appears that all of the skin in the infected area was killed and will peel away to reveal new tender skin.  This could add some more waiting time before I can return to the trail.  Such is life!
